A Provisional Setting

Mother Nature paints the rolling hills,
the summer greens and winter frills,
the flowery meadows and rising verdants,
and the snow on top as it poses and flaunts.

It dances with the wind without a sound
and falls at night 'til it lies upon the ground,
earthbound traveling  from skyward born
in time to see the sunrise in the early morn.

It brags about its beauty for only a while
until the rays of the sun start to smile.
They melt her beautiful work of art
as the baren peaks begin to fade to dark.

A frustrated artist is Mother Nature this time,
but she puts her trust in her seasonal design
as winter turns into spring and summer into fall
and provisional settings answer nature’s call.
