Nether Horns

Horns of the Netherworld,
the voice of the prince of the dark,
the evil that lurks in dark alleyways,
located down, down beneath
the benevolent homes
that house the divine spirit that
competes for the attention for the word of God,
forever speaks with his infernal tongue,
searching out his prey and commanding
him to obey his demands,
someone who is vulnerable and
dissatisfied with his life.

The louder the horn, the more he hears.
The more it overpowers the good within him,
the easier it is to cut through.
The lesser the good within influences him,
the easier it is for him to hear.
The lonelier he is, the more he wants to
reach out and give his heart to it
and put an end to his loneliness.

Friendship is based on needs
and their fulfillment,
another world with open arms
waiting for him to enter,
to take part in and feel at home,
new avenues to run through,
a new power over others that he didn’t have,
a new feeling that starts his adrenalin flowing,
an awakening to replace the boredom
and loneliness that beset him in his old world,
the one that God chose for him to be part of.

Who knows where this new feeling will lead him.
Did his new world fulfill his needs?
Will he wake up and see what it did to him?
Will his conscience punish him,
or did it become lost in his endeavors?
Did he die because of what he did?

Horns of the Netherworld keep blasting away.
Most are gilded in the finest gold.
Some sound like voices of the angels.
Some are heard and some are silenced.
They all are the voices of the devil
who found his prey to do his work.
Take heed lonely boy and
tell him to go away.
