Precious Rhyme
Words dipped in the waters of poetic bliss
flowing in rapture as in a lover’s kiss
through velvet pipes down Melodic Avenue
swirling toward heaven for a spatial rendezvous
words chosen from deep within the soul
the inner domain of the heart’s primal glow
shedding light upon the corridors of thought
of all that was found and all that was taught
a new language that flows through the air
on the wings of poetic rhyme and verbal flair
that come and go and swirl with the wind
to lovers and poets in melodic discipline
a rhyme not like the rigid rules of rhyme
but an easing up along the constricted spine
a natural romp in the lazy clouds aloft
as poets sink into a bewitching trough
a magnet that pulls all thinkers into a maze
up into the deepest space as the sky child plays
as he places these words inside his dizzy mind
and laughs at him and the rest of his kind
poets becoming poets as the tension goes away
words melted into liquid as the fires stay
torches staying lit through the cold and dark
as the fervor and the thoughts come to never part
an ode to life and in the living in it that way
for as long as the fire stays lit and the rhythms sway
precious words swirl about in his poet mind
lifting him up on his poetic climb
words are like ladders up to the highest mount
