Sun Giant

Sun giant of the highest worth
In its proper place since birth,
Above the clouds against the blue,
Looking down the whole day through,

Only the eyes I can see,
His towering body hidden from me.
A giant with a schizophrenic mind,
A saint or sinner of another kind,
A ray of light to the dying flowers
Accompanied by a myriad of showers,
A sinner to the heretofore parched soil
With nothing but more sun and spoil,
But what would we do without it?

I wrote this for The Belt and Beyond.
