White Velvet Skies

‘Neath the blue firmament
that touches the outskirts of heaven,
where the brittle white canopy
that covers up the unstable clouds,
breaks up and drifts apart
like the foam of the sea,
the listless velvet fragments laze about,
drifting, wandering, lolling,
waiting to be pushed along by
the hands of the wind,
flaunting themselves in view of poetic eyes
that gaze at the splender of the sky.

Images of a majestic world come to mind;
rolling rivulets, crystal waters, pure gardens,
savory fruits, cottony landscapes, silky islands,
rhythmic waves, easy drifting, songs of the seagulls,
a world in the eyes of the dreamer coming true.

Stories unfold before him as he gazes upward.
Puffed up silky white gardens roll along the sky.
Velvet cathedrals drift along with the winds.
Psalms of the saints are voiced in their blowing.
Hymns of the angels echo through the halls.
Music of the heavens melts all restless moods.
The world is calm, peaceful, beautiful,
and oh, so beautiful.
