Rainbows of Decay

You have wings strapped on with white ribbons
Woven and stitched through your skin
You’ll never know what it takes to be driven
Ripping apart your flesh just to have a chance to fly
The ribbons are woven inside
Keeping and separating a sealed divide
What is real, what is not
The ribbons are tied to your tongue
The ribbons of red hold place around your throat
And if your wings were to rip
That is what will keep you afloat
Ridged edges of chalk and dust
Form a gracious faces across the sun
Dwelling within a sacred eye
Living in torment as you shout to the sky
What’s holding you back now
Worthless suffering, and endless drought
Suffocating of the things we treasure most
There is not need to boast
When we come this close
To colliding into something much bigger than ourselves
As you are feeling
We are feeling
Such small things can create one whole
But holding together is dependent
Upon these effervescent ribbons
Changing in colors
Red, white, all in between
To form the rainbows that you can see
We have given our souls
We have become as one
So you may see the light of every bad day
Pass through the rear view mirrors holding decay
It’s up to you
To choose what this all may mean
But we love you enough
And we pray that is enough
