The Half of my Whole

When I got married I believed my husband would be my 'head’
He wasn’t, and it upset me, until I realised something.
I didn’t need a head!
My whole life I’ve been taught
Women should be submissive, mild, sweet, meek.
I’ve learnt differently that
Women can be bold, brave, passionate, outspoken
They can be strong and decisive
Men can be emotional and gentle
And that’s okay!
Not every man can take the lead
And not every woman can be submissive
Turns out my husband was never meant to be my 'spiritual head’
And I was never meant to be his 'compliment’
We broke the bibles mold
But here we are
Loving each other
Perfectly together
Perfectly equal
Perfect two.
Like it was always supposed to be
