Love is hard
I know we’re over, we’re finished, our relationship has diminished,
You are no longer my girl, yet you still remain my whole world,
I find without you I’m cold, but I’ll just have to turn up the heating,
I feel so tired and weak; guess I’ll just have to check that I’m eating,
And although my heart is still beating, it’s bruised from taking a beating,
And I have no solution to make it better or to stop it from bleeding,
They say that time is a healer, so I will just give it time,
But every day I’m still bleeding, even now it’s months down the line,
I don’t mean to make you feel bad; I know it wasn’t your fault,
We both knew from the beginning we would have to come to a halt,
I’m just so grateful we got to have the time that we had,
If I had never have met you I think I would have gone mad,
And I swear I’ll get over you, it’ll just take longer for me,
I know you’re more or less there, and I promise that I will be,
But every time your skin touches mine, I can still feel electricity,
When I feel the warmth of your breath, I tremble so helplessly,
When I smell the scent of your body I almost drop to my knees,
It’s taking all my strength, not to say “come back to me please”,
But I know it’s not what you want, and so it’s not fair to try,
It doesn’t mean I won’t still love you ‘til the day that I die,
I’m going to give you your space, but I’m still always right here,
I’ll still look after and protect you so you’ve nothing to fear,
I’ve gone from boyfriend to best friend, but it’s nothing short of a godsend,
That you still let me be part of your life, it will help my heart to mend,
I know I only feel the pain because we cannot be together,
But without you to get me through I know the pain would last forever,
I guess all that I’m trying to say is as long as you help me through,
The love will never fade away, but I’ll get over you.
