Different

You know when so many people think you're crazy you actually start to believe it....

My unconventional ways will amaze you,
Yet you won’t question me because you’re afraid to,
But it’s not me that you fear,
You’re scared of what you might hear,
You think I’ll infect your mind,
Inject poison through the ear.
You feel you need to steer clear,
Of verbal contamination,
But if you don’t wish to hear,
Then why the examination?
You can’t just keep me in here,
Where’s the consideration?
Where’s the deliberation?
Who gave authorization?
For this here interrogation?
Is this a hallucination?
'Cus this is manipulation,
This is discrimination,
Against the differently wired,
And so the truth has transpired,
Because your eyes say it all,
No vocal cords were required.
You all think that I’m insane,
That something’s wrong with my brain,
So I’m deprived of my freedom,
One patient more to detain.
I find you all inhumane,
You feel as I’m not the same,
I’m something to be obtained,
And used for personal gain.
You want me to join the chain,
To jump up onto your train,
Abide by every rule,
To not step out of my lane.
But I refuse to accept it,
There’s nothing wrong with my brain,
What makes it wrong to be different?
It’s not a crime to be strange.
You tell me I have an illness,
Something I can’t maintain,
A swiftly maturing virus,
Pillaging my mainframe.
You say you’re here to help,
And that it’s in my best interest,
To do all that you say,
And without hint of an inquest.
But I don’t need to be here,
I don’t need your medication,
If I need to calm down,
Then I’ll just try meditation.
I’m not looking to change,
So why are you so persistent?
It’s not a crime to be strange,
And it’s not wrong to be different........
Is it?
