Race Against Time

Moving forward but at a slow pace,
Inevitably not gonna win the race,
Second is last if it’s not first place,
Still gotta carry on, don’t lose face,
Don’t lose faith, never stop believing,
To come so close and just lose is just teasing,
Gotta soldier on now, gotta stop wheezing,
Pull myself together if I wanna keep breathing.

The more I try the less it seems that all of this is doable,
Is it possible I’ve bitten off more than is chewable?
No, stop the doubt and get back up on your feet,
You can’t stop now, don’t even think about admitting defeat,
It doesn’t matter if you’re tired, and feel like you’re beat,
Get your ass back into gear, jump in the driver’s seat.

And so my journey continues like a race against time,
In which to make this girl see that she will always be mine,
To make her realise no matter how far down the line,
That I will always be with her and she’ll always be fine.
I have to make her know I love her and I’ll never leave,
So when she reads this poem minutes after Christmas Eve,
I hope she’ll realise how much I love and care for her,
And that nothing in the world could ever compare to her,
Because there is no other being quite as rare as her,

Darling, I love you and I really hope you like this,
So if you like it show you do by giving me a big kiss.
