Finding My Way Back to Dickie Street

I’m finding my way
Back to Dickie street,
The land my great-grandfather
John Boyd Dickie,
Bequeathed to the city of Trenton,
He moved his family there from
Stewiacke
He gave away a tract
Of land;
I’m finding my way back there
By tracing family history
On my father’s side the geneology,
Of past relatives long gone,
Of relatives alive and present,
I’m making my way back there
In family records,
In glorious sad tales told,
People who lived back then
Were brave & bold,
I must stop on my way,
To Trenton to acknowledge
Their contributions back then,
How it all began
How family can be the tie
That binds us to history
And be our saving grace,
Unite us in our joy & misery,
It might tell us how we got
Our likes dislikes personalities,
Our hair color or our face
