The One in the Room

Words come down,
Like a hammer driven hard against the steely wind.
A seed of blooming care falls out;
The tree has sinned.

People go on ignorant,
It’s better there I’ve heard;
The closest voice is silent,
Trained without a word.
Can a candle burn him,
Would it save him now?
What happened to the old fire?
The spark ran out.

Flies litter the walls in this quiet domain.
Dark, a restless force crawls through
Without much to say.
Cold, apart;
I stay out of the things I see.
Hurt, alone;
I sleep to escape reality .
