Cracks in Plaster

Step after step whittles the time away,
Features grown and darkened; eyes are tired, grim.
Old friends and faces turn to enemies;
Slowly we fall to degradation.

Animals with masks, twenty questions asked;
Who’s who and whatever they want to be.
A change in mood; now the plaster’s cracked,
Maybe it’s not what we wanted to see.

Thunder storms, warm and cool airs meet;
The wind is picking up, saw it coming all along.
Whipping through a path; who can stop it now?
We sit back and watch the monster descend.
