Waves

You’re strong;
It threw me to be letting go.
So long;
We were both kids out of the know
Along came a gift from the sea;
I let her drown but she struggled to find me

Growing
Out with the waves; alone and nowhere to hide
Weathering away
I shrink and dissolve with each push of the coming tide
Flowing over my head;
The land under the waves is forever to be my bed.

One oak
Stood tall and firm among the trees;
The bows broke
A wounded thing of natural beauty
You know there’s only so much these roots can take,
Don’t choke out life
Or her seeds will find me.

Yearning
A thing of wanting with no way to feed
Held down
No voice to call, no courage to bleed
Further I sink into the deep
But the fishes surround me, consuming tears that I weep.
