Wise Scarlet

Memories unfolding in the midnight rain
Whispers of secrets, the answers to my questions
A painted picture at the end of the corridor
Now right in front of me as clear as day

I’ll have emeralds and Ruby’s
Diamonds and gold
With all this knowledge I’ll be rich
Standing string on solid concrete
This life to me has just been sold

I’m back and I’m fearless, cut out of my shell
Only waiting for tangled promises to break down in front of me
Can’t say I was surprised, you beat me to hell

I may be hidden within a locket of hope
Cloaked in goodness but like a ticking time bomb a trigger you provoked

Now I’m high as the silver wings with metal hearts
Seeing red
But tomorrow I’ll be waiting for you unwittingly
Until those words are said
