The One

Growing up with sisters and brothers
Is better than having none
The fewer the years between them
And you know you were always 'the one’.

The easy ones were obvious
The 'oldest one’, the 'youngest one’
And some would even change,
The 'tall one’, the 'fat one’ or the 'blonde one’

By the time you got to high school
Some of the 'ones’ had stuck
The 'smart one’ or the 'bad one’
Or the 'one’ with all the luck

Getting older and moving on
Doesn’t release you from this game
The adjectives are more mature
But still replace your name

So lets not forget about
The 'nice one’, the 'pretty one’
The 'athlete one’ or the 'lazy one’
Or the one having all the fun

Because they all still tease
The 'sensitive one’ nonstop
And laughing at the 'funny one’
Until the last one drops

You learn thru time
To accept the 'ones’ you’re given
It’s up to you to make the one
The best one that you’re living!
