My Heart's A Fistful Of Glass

You appeared before me
Like a guardian
Watching me from a distance
Keeping me in sight

You were dressed in your finest threads
Gazing at me with those kind dark eyes

Tread Carefully...

The remaining fragments of my heart
Will Pierce and mare your perfect frame

The path long ago has broken me

To pieces...

Leaving shards along the way

Yet you continue piecing me together
Like a jigsaw puzzle...

Letting the glass slice through
Your bare skin until raw...

Your hand scarred...

Why try mending a heart
That was already broken?

The pain is not yours to bare
Yet you inflict it upon yourself
To save a broken soul...

You placed my burden
Into the palm of your hands
And polished me slowly

Treasured like a priceless antique

You didn’t judge me by the cracks
Nor the imperfections within me

You called me beautiful...

Precious...

One of a kind...
