Fourteen

“Oh, did you expect me to play fair?" Cupid laughed. "I am the god of love. I am never fair.”
Rick Riordan, The House of Hades

A Sonnet

She’s never seen the sun shining brighter
Surprisingly, the rays burn not her skin
Ne’er felt happier, pure joy from within
Her whole body quivers; every fiber!

Lively tunes and harmonies fill the air
The colors bedazzle; they’re more intense
She peers at the world through a tinted lens
So, she sees only beautiful and fair

Just what is this feeling? Herself, she asks
Her fourteen-year-old heart comprehends not
This sweet sensation! A virus she caught?
She shakes, as she mindlessly does her tasks!

Unbeknownst, Cupid struck her heart at last
From here on now, her life shall be a blast!

An old poem written seven years ago but recently resurrected and refurbished from the dustbin. This is the twin of the poem Sixteen I posted recently.
