Sixteen

“If I know what love is, it is because of you.”
– Hermann Hesse

I saw her from across the room
A long look, not a fleeting glance
Enough for my heart to go zoom
And throw my mind into a trance

Wow!  She’s gorgeous and beautiful
One drop-dead, enchanting goddess
There’s an air about her; she’s magical
Of girls I’ve seen, she’s the hottest!

I have to meet her, oh! Absolutely
Else, for many nights, I’ll be sleepless
Daydreaming of her face so lovely
Yes, if I don’t, I simply can’t focus!

I have to meet her; for my future
All my tomorrows are at stake
The fact is, my life may soon be over
If next week’s algebra test I don’t take

I have to meet her; for my sanity
So I could again add and multiply
She’s in my mind constantly
I’ve forgotten how, or even why!

Yes, I have to meet her; or else
My sixteen-year-old heart will explode
Never felt this way, my heart melts
Is this love? My mind’s on overload!

Another love poem. Written seven years ago. Hidden away in my computer. Seeing light of day for the first time.
