by bright lights we’re blinded, we couldn’t see
in danger and pitfalls, we could well be
so, we hold out our hands; we shield our eyes
fearful we’d be in harm’s way otherwise!
but still we move onward, always hopeful
trusting our instincts, yet ever careful!
we’re fortunate, our souls have eyes and hands
conscience! God’s words the spirit understands
for the world we live in, full of lights so bright
but behind them, the darkness of the night
glitz and glamour, all kinds of distraction
that can derail our plans for salvation
rainbow colored neon, mesmerizing
they hide all the chaos, shadows can bring
pleasures alluring, we could lose our way
sadly, in the abyss, there we may stay!
but our conscience, armed and ever-present
there to shield our eyes at the right moment!
let’s put out our hands, dangers to detect
and let’s heed God’s words, ourselves to protect!
