Even in the gloomiest of days, she colors his world
In the darkest of midnights, she’s his northern star
With her around, all the rose petals are unfurled
Vibrant colors of the rainbow dazzle near and far

Without her, the days are gray and nights are grim
The sky is ominous, the rain clouds are threatening
The fearful sun hides, and the angels sing no hymn
Autumn leaves all around and nary a sign of spring

Flowers bloom and birds sing whenever he sees her
No hurricanes nor storms, only refreshing showers
The leaves are greener and the ocean’s a deep azure
Fireflies and the stars light up the midnight hours

When she leaves, happiness follows her out the door
The sun shines not as bright, the sunset has no luster
Verses don’t rhyme, and songs have melody no more
All the days are gloomy for there’s stormy weather

But the days he spends with her, forever memorable
Each and every moment, one rose in a floral bouquet
One pearl in an endless string, a single note audible
In a harmonious symphony lasting forever and a day

Sadly, his beloved has left; she’ll never come back
She has crossed the threshold to a universe beyond
Broken-hearted, his days and nights are pitch black
No one to color his world! No one with a magic wand…

@Vic: sorry one more comment ..i cant help myself once i get started ..i tried to leave a short simple comment but had to elaborate..i read that u wrote it for friend whose wife died :( so great to be able to grasp so well what your friend was feeling... Youd never think u werent the one it happened to..im guessimg because you could draw certain parallels between your lives and write of the sadness from both of you..even of it wasnt the exact same situation..dont know if thats true or not just the fact that i assume that says something of the effectiveness of the poem.....ok thats all after my my 3 long ol comments

@C.R.Stanger: I always like putting myself in other's peoples shoes, so to speak. I knew they were much in love; and this is how I would have felt if it happened to me.

Great you're OK. We had to evacuate because we live close to the Brazos River which rose to historic heights. We stayed in a hotel for seven days. But our house and street were dry when we got back. Thank God. The first two nights was horrible because we had several tornado warnings. Someone told me there were about 80 warnings in the Houston area over two days. A tornado did touch down a mile and a half from us, damaged about 50 houses and uprooted upwards of thirty trees.

@Vic: omg your from tx i think i remember us talking about us both being from texas ...wow im so glad you and yours are ok.. I cant imagine ...im so happy to hear your house and street werent under water ...its nice to finally hear a story that ended up better than couldve been instead the other way around ...good news ..and see we heard a little of the fact there were tornados and tornado warnings but it was so over cast by the hurricane we didnt think of how tornados could have effected people like yall ..so glad yall got out safe ..it really its something to hear fellow texans made it thru with everyone and everything even if it was a week of fear and anxiety ..i know other states care too..but id like to think we texans truley look out for eachother and actually feel pretty good when your distant neighbors are ok ..even if its tx and your neighbors are tons of miles away...a few outta state friends tell me sometimes they cant fathom how big tx is..ha i went to florida recently and it always tickles me to think we pass thru 4 states and im thinking...and now if goin west from dallas wed have only made it to el paso in the time we passed thru 4 southern states...
