Voice of all-knowing

as ye treat him, so ye treat me

Within this pilgrim’s soul
exists a hungry beggar waif,
who can never afford a moment
of indifference or distraction.

Alert to every aching nuance
of what it is to want and need.
His ever present plaintive cries
embody the voice of all-knowing.

He’s the one who is the least of us,
outstretched palms which you ignore.
He’s my greatest guide and teacher,
whose pain is the voice of all-knowing.

He shows me in a most perfect way
how I must not ever choose to be.
as is echoed in the Master’s words,
As ye treat him, so ye treat me!
