If you

By Yiset Naizir

If you could hear my chest confess,
you’d never doubt or second guess.
It beats with just your name—
like every poem I’ve ever written,
where you are immortal,
woven into every line, every letter.

If you were here, close to me,
perhaps these verses wouldn’t be.
We’d be wrapped in white sheets,
kissing slow,
and I’d be resting in you—
safe, warm, complete.

If you weren’t so far,
yet felt so near,
we’d be wrapped in a warmth
that only grows year by year.
You’d hold me like a fragile doll,
and I’d be yours, giving you my all.

With you by my side,
there’s nothing I need to hide.
Your love feels like heaven—
your blue and green eyes,
your golden threads,
your tenderness and strength.

Will you be the one?
Can’t wait to know the end.

If you weren’t far,
maybe our love wouldn’t burn like fire—
for the most passionate flames
belong to those who patiently wait.
To burn together.
To be free.
To live.
To execute the verb love—
you and me.
