A Dream of Love

I dreamed of love the other day, and reveled in the way it made me feel
My body flying high on a cloud, my brain telling me it wasn’t real
Instead of accepting logic, I let my heart run with the joy that image became
I knew that if I let that moment pass me, it would be worse than any heartbreaking pain

I let him grab my manicured hand, trusting him to be the knight that every woman needs
He was the diamond in my indigo sky, that little fact was already obvious to me
Even though I didn’t know how it happened, I prayed that that moment would never pass
When he slipped that ring on my warm, shaking finger, I knew that this love was destined to always last

As we hugged our friends and family, I could see my groom blurring before my eyes
I smiled at him one time sweetly, and saw my curtains shielding the bright, yellow sunrise
Though my fairytale vanished swiftly, I know the memory will always be
This dream gave me an everlasting present, it showed me a love that many people will never see
