Spirit's Song

Please don’t call me special today, because tomorrow you’ll play a whole other tune
It’s not enough to call my outside beautiful, because my heart’s a breath hitcher too
You talk to me, but you don’t talk me, and you look at me, but you don’t really see
If you take the time to look at my eyes closely, it will reveal a story that my lips would never release
I’m not anyone’s Cinderella, and I’m not some perfect little piece
But, what I am is an ancient relic, that has been chipped, but still a masterpiece
I fight against a past that aims to define me
I reach for a future that’s too fragile to hold
My outlook can be a little shaky, but I have a beat of hope that never slows
Don’t look at me and think you know the words to describe me, because you may never earn the lyrics to my spirit’s song
Right now, I’m in the process of finding the true me, and if you’re interested, you’re more than welcome to tag along
