The Final Exam

2015

Tomorrow, I take a test that can define the rest of my life
Don’t know the result, but I’m already tired of this fight
Affected by a past that I had to live to soon
Carrying a mark of a beast that does more than consume
I look at the world around me and know this isn’t my intended fate
Wishing I could go back and undo this damning mistake
I’m always reaching for a hand whose presence is never there
Yearning for a shoulder to lean on, but I can never ask, I wouldn’t dare
My hope is drained from me, I’m lacking even the smallest sliver of light
Tomorrow is the beginning of everything, and I can only pray my prediction wasn’t right
