Santa travels the whole world to give children presents,
the tooth fairy collects your teeth,
The Easter bunny is real.
what’s the deal,
with all of these lies,
that we all eventually find are not true?
you know, whenever I was feeling blue,
I’d hear another one of those lies.
“you’ll be okay”.
same old saying,
Id hear it everyday.
Lie after lie just to get us by.
although lying is a sin,
we listen to what we hear in order to not give in.
We believe just to feel relieved.
All my life I thought it would all turn out to be another lie, like the rest.
Just to keep me strong and doing my best.
But I began to realize,
out of all those lies,
this was not one.
I believe in the sun,
and all the beauty it brings when it rises.
Compromise with your brain,
tell it that “yes you may be broken but we make it out alive,
You’ll be okay, and we will survive.”
I believe that we all are strong enough to carry on,
onto the next day and the next.
I believe hope is not that far,
you have to defeat fear to maintain it,
gain it by looking on the bright side.
Hope may hide sometimes,
but we make it through.
The truth will be always be unveiled,
I am going to be okay.
Maybe not today,
but we will all be okay.
I promise.
But you’ll have to understand,
that that has been the plan all along on your own,
down to your bones deep down to your core,
don’t ignore us when we say “you’ll be okay”.
