Love Found Me
I found love one day in the strangest of places.
I found love in places I never thought to look.
I found love while I was walking down a path in the woods.
I’d been crying all day and escaped into nature,
the forest sang me a song that lulled me in.
I found love in nature.
I found love in the way each tree guided me down the path to get me to where I was going.
I found love within the way the birds sang my name in a soft whisper that made me fall in love with the sound of my name.
I found love within the way the dirt I walked on hugged my bare feet.
I found love in the way the rays of sun peeked through the branches welcoming me under the warm sky as I walked out of the forest.
I found love in the way the wind wiped away the tears across my face.
I found love in the wind as it escorted me to a bench out looking a lake where I found a pad of paper and a pen.
I found love in the natural way my hand picked up the pen as an instinct.
I found love in the distortion of time as I spent hours that felt like minutes sitting there spilling out the ink in my veins pumped by my heart through the tip of a pen.
I found love in the glistening of the waves and the lapping sound against the shore.
I found love in the way the sky spoke to me through reflecting its messages onto the surface of the lake, portraying beautiful colors and fairy tale stories.
I found love in inadvertently picking up my body and dancing to the sound of silence.
I found love in how my thoughts sang me a lullaby that set my soul free to feel and let everything around me tiptoe into my chest lingering with a ringing essence of happiness and freedom.
I found love in the comforting fact that although night was seeping in, I could always count on the sun to wake me up the next day.
I found love in the crackling noise the bonfire next to me made, “Everything will be okay”, it croaked.
I found love in the way I completely believed in the fire and what it had reassured me.
I found love in the way the faces in the fire smiled at me,
and how the faces in the clouds winked at me,
and how the faces in the water laughed at me.
I found love in the way I didn’t need to turn around to know you were there.
I could feel your soul speak to mine and there was a breeze of wind that came as you approached.
You stood on a hill, with a half smile across your face and your arm outstretched towards me,
waiting for me to join my hand in yours.
I felt almost as if a cloud came down, swept me off my feet as the wind blew me to you.
I found love in the way you pushed my hair behind my ear so you could admire every inch of my face.
I found love in the way your finger traced my skin as if I was a map and you enjoyed exploring new cities and streets of me.
I found love in the way I could hear our hearts beat in sync,
simultaneously,
as one,
as I held your body oh so close to mine.
Behind your eyes was a secret door that I discovered from locking eyes with you, and I opened it never expecting to find the beautiful Galaxy that I now call home.
I now realized that you were the trees guiding me to you through the forest all along.
You were the birds singing my name,
you were the dirt hugging my feet,
you were the wind wiping away my tears,
you were the nature that I lost myself in.
You were the human that I found myself in.
I found love in the realization that I did not find love,
but that love found me.
