The soul is an appendix made of words
and while plenty of people
function perfectly well without one,
much like the physical appendix–
which stores good bacteria
for when you really need it,
like after diarrhea–
the soul is needed when you’ve said
a bunch of stupid shit
and now words are failing you
as everything falls apart
and the only thing that can save you
is telling the truth of
who you might someday be
if given another chance
