God Is a Thing, I think

Anselm’s ontological proof fails
at proving the existence of God;
there is no way around a leap of faith

Instead, it proves that human beings
are incapable of accessing God’s meaning
without first believing in God’s being

Anselm’s proof then becomes
the missing first half
of Descartes’ cogito:
God is, therefore I think of Him;
I think, therefore I am
