The Conversion

They set the restrictions, they create what is right.
It shrouds my life until it is as black as the night.
Do I conform, follow what they say?
And if I choose differently, is it close to having June in May?

My life becomes happier with every passing.
Until I unconsciously step into the shadows of demanding.
Then comes depression surrounded by the expectation
of 250 million people in this “wonderful” nation.

Hatred and ignorance, hypocrisy at its worst.
A close-minded fear from their mind will inevitably burst.
Is there a way to change it? Maybe– but probably not.
Only, however, if you decide to change your chain of thought.

From a place of love where judgement is non-existent.
Will come your gracious views, please, do not dismiss it
What can come wrong from seeing with love??
Your pure, peaceful thoughts, the same as a dove.

No worries, no pretensions of what people think.
No matter how many times you’ve broken the sink.
If only everyone could follow this logic.
Then maybe our lives wouldn’t be tragic.

Here I am, 1/10/2024, listening to Collective Soul whilst writing it. Someone wrote on the poem the 4th stanza sounds "almost like something from Collective Soul." Thanks, Dan.
