To Love

What does it mean?
To Love is to abandon
All rational and logic
To act out of character
And find depth within yourself
To love is to put your wants
Above my own
Not because they are more important
But because I cherish them so
To love is to worry
If your needs are being met
To care for, nurture, grow
Yours are a garden I’ll gladly tend
To love is to intertwine
Allowing our souls to embrace
While still being true to ourselves
A perfect blending of differences
To love is to trust
If I entrust you with my heart
All I ask is that
You hold it close
To love is to hurt
There is no pain, no struggle too great
That I wouldn’t share with you
To help you heal and heal with you
To love is to support
I will always be there for you
Even if I think that one day
You won’t be there for me
To love is to communicate
As I read to you the pages of who I am
I hope there’s no part of you
You feel I need to be closed off from
To love is to accept
I accept that I have succumb to you
To all of you, good and bad
I succumb to my version of perfection
