The Dawn Light

Lying in bed
In the dawn light
Covered in gold
Imagined effigies
Of ourselves to come
Envisioning different roles
From the ones
That for many years
When we have
Faithfully rose
Into other mornings
Of life, work and love,
Embodied beings,
A part of nature,
The be and end
Of ourselves,
Sublime in our
Silences and duties,
In our sweet
Everydayness,
Taking in
Encroaching modernity
Holding on
To our identity,
And our unity,
Resplendent in gold.
