Paradox of Emotion

She said that she had walked among the flowers,
But I see no flowers in the fields of Winter Wheat.
She said that she had heard a Robin sing,
But I’ve never see a Robin on this street.

She said that Aunty Lou had come to visit,
But Lou has long sense gone, passed away.
She planed to vote for IKE, in November,
If I would take her, on election day.

She didn’t know me, the last time that I feed her.
She’d get angry because her husband wasn’t home.
She didn't remember going to his funeral
Then she cries, because he’s left her all alone.

She tells stories, remembered from her childhood,
And she tells of games they played, so long ago.
She passed away, in her bed, while watching Castle
And without a tear, I just said, “God rest her soul.”

It’s a conflicting state of sadness consuming me
And a paradox of emotion, that some may know.
