The Absence of Specialty
How would you describe the word special?
Is it the way people make you feel or is it how you treat others?
In my book, being special is something different
Being special to me is how you look at me
I want to feel wanted
I want to feel important
I want to stand out from everyone else
I want you to recognize what I do for you
However, you give me the opposite
Yes, you tell me you love me
You buy me nice things
You cuddle me at night and tell me to have sweet dreams
But those aren’t just the things I am looking for; but thank you for all of those, they do matter
I always see other guys telling their girls that they are beautful
They go out of their way for them
They prove to them that they are what matters most
Yes, the “I love you” is great and I love you so much more
But, what you don’t realize is that I am worthy enough to be treated as special
Call me beautiful
Tell me that I am what matters most
Show me that you acknowledge what I do for you
Maybe go out of you way to do something for me
Please don’t pick your friends over me all the time, when all I am asking for is simple
That is how I want to feel; special
I hope I make you feel that way
You know, sometimes it’s the little things that count
I tuck you in bed
I make your lunch for work
I do your laundry
I pick out your clothes and lay them out
I drive miles and miles at unreasonable times of the night to pick you up because you are too drunk; even though I have work in three hours
See, it is those kinds of things I want
Being special right now, is absent from this relationship
Please, show me how much you love me
I hope I show you in more ways than another
