Blindly Searching

When you lead me to believe,
That your words were all that rang true,
I listened to this sweet sirens’ song,
With the heart of a blissful young sailor.
In my head danced an image of pure joy,
Of love and happiness and protection from the dark,
But as I came close, the dream fell apart,
For it turned into a nightmare.
Your words made the darkness close in around me,
All my fears rushed in at once,
For I was alone and blind,
You left me there to be consumed.
I learned that trust is all too fragile,
For those who love the unknown,
I walked away from the dark broken and lost,
Hoping I’d find a way into his arms.
