In the dark

From my poem book

In the dark,
The tears roll freely down my face,
My eyes red from the reality,
Now that you’re gone.

My sobs say nothing but your name,
The breathless cry for you,
My brain only brings your face,
And again returns my hollow heart.

My sorrows bring forth the memories,
My pillow soaked with the fruits of your hatred,
Is this what you hope to gain?
To break my heart and let me slowly fade away?

In the dark, I wait for you,
To hold me again like you used to,
But now I’m left holding myself,
And wondering if you ever loved.

I was left waiting to hear the crippling truth,
If you were a man with a golden tongue,
With all your golden lies you told me,
While you held me in the dark.
