Society

Society and all it’s beauty,
made her spend hours staring at the broken glass,
commenting on what she saw,
and finding all the imperfections.
  Society and all it’s glory,
made him spend hours under the bar,
lifting as much as he could,
and feeling the pressure of those around.
  Society and all it’s rewards,
made her spend her life in that room,
with the bathroom floor her only true friend,
and with each time a shrinking waist.
  Society and all it’s promises,
made him spend all of his money,
chasing what could temorarily fill his void,
and risking his life for that next high.
  Society and all it’s wonder,
made him learn to fly,
with a tight hold, and a swift kick,
and the note left for his family.
  Society and deception,
made them all realize all too late,
that there was a better way,
and all the light they’d find.
