Where the Sun Peeks From

I love where the sun peeks from,
Right outside my window.
Just beyond a tower in the distance.
It’s just sitting there waiting for me
To greet it over the horizon, it makes me
Grow bored of the same routine
That I go through everyday

It’s almost as if I don’t care about my life
As much as I do about seeing the sun peek
I don’t care about being hungry or having to go eat.
I don’t care about speaking to people around me,
And I certainly don’t care to listen.
Honestly I don’t care about showering
As much as I want to see the sun
Peeking out of my window.

I hate to see him when I’m outside.
He isn’t so nice, he hovers over my yard
And beats me down with heat and light.
He becomes ruthless.

But the worse days are when
I don’t see him at all
Then I feel as if there was,
No reason to be alive today.
I’d rather lie in bed
And not have to work

The rain will remind me
Of the darker plights that I may face
And how the world has
Dealt its bad deal
Or bad luck is more real than
Something you just feel.

It’s as if the sky does the crying for me
How poetic of nature
The nights just make me
Feel restless as I stare out my window
Past the tower, counting down the hours
Until I see my friend again.

There’s no use going to sleep
For a chance of missing the only
Thing that can bring me salvation
Within this still damned nation
That has decided the damnation
Of my environment.
But yet and still I wait
Everyday to see the sun rise,
From out my window.

How can something be so beautiful,
Yet simple?
It is a rarity to see
That will have you in disbelief
But yet to me that is where I nestle
My soul because where I lay is cold,
And no place for me to grow.
This much doesn’t take a genius to know

When I see that sun peeking
From beyond that tower,
I want to chase it to where I feel
We’re at least closer.
It gives me hope,
And reminds me of freedom
Beyond my everyday routine.
It’s my inspiration to dream
It reminds me everything isn’t what it seems.

Damn it’s a shame I can’t make it
Beyond that tower and chase,
The sun however far.
Instead I see it peek at me
Beyond my window
That has no blinds
But bars
