Every day

Waves of my past crash against me right now,
Those days of extreme joy and love and adventure,
spinning and mixing together with those days I would rather forget,
The struggle for the here and now is like a fight against gravity,
Never ending and more often than not doomed to end badly,
A firework display of emotion shooting flares of regret and bursts of triumph,
Colors splashing and twisting and curling with each memory,
From hot to cold and then back all on the span of one moment,
Each relationship dancing past me while I search still for my lover or love,
Conversations collapse me with regret for not saying something smarter, funnier, less weird,
Every day this happens once,
I am enthralled with this ocean of experiences,
Every day I swim on searching for land,
Waiting for my feet to hit solid ground.
