Smile for awhile
Keep walking,
keep breathing,
the waves have crushed my house to pieces and still I will smile,
the wind has stripped me of everything leaving me nude and cold,
still I will smile,
smile for those that don’t know they can,
trapped in themselves and there material world,
fighting against the truth of endless possibility,
seeking to end there struggle with the help of substances,
I smile,
this smile i wear as a badge of honor,
a brand of courage that has been burnt into my flesh,
years or sorrow and fear being beaten back by this smile,
miles made and smiles reaching out beyond my world,
I smile,
if only to confirm that life will go on,
that love is aware of hate and accepts it,
that the fight of the eternity is more of a dance,
moving in and out of all shades and colors of emotions,
I smile,
