DREAMS

J Ann Crowdet

Tonight, dreams await a slumbering deep as chilled frost stills upon my windowpane where a tipsy breeze whistles through it's cracks

I pull my blankets tight beneath my chin, watching darkness enshrouded by a moon’s still lamplight

My every thought stirs like windchimes of quiet emotion within my soul

As whilful shutters on breathing songs, my eyelids finally collapse

This is when all my dreams stand ready to create brush strokes of color

Such are stars twinkling to an orchestra within my mind’s vision of painted worlds or a nightmare’s sullen shades
