Doubt

If I opened up a bottle of my soul
Would you stay and drink a glass with me?
Or at it contemptibly
And say the color was all off?
If I told you the exact number of the stars in the sky
Would you fly there just to prove me wrong?
I can’t imagine being anything but everything
And everything is nothing in your eyes.
I’m the punchline of a joke that isn’t funny
The climax of a story no one’s read
The deleted scenes from a movie no one’s ever seen.
Life’s a struggle in a violent, angry ocean
I don’t know when I fell in, but I’m pretty sure I’m going under
Not sure now if I even care at all.
Pretty, soulful eyes still may not sympathize or empathize
A beautiful smile may not be directed at you
Even if it’s looking at you
Politeness is not always kindness
The sky’s not really blue
Clouds aren’t made of cotton
Summertime means nothing
No one else is laughing
No one else is crying
Is this really living
Or just passing time while dying?
