How it grows

The darkness crept in,
Slowly wrapping its black fingers,
Attaching its self ever so carefully,
Making sure it was  undetected,
This is where it grows,
Delicately attacking a life,
Leaving a path of pain and hurt.

Desperately trying to cope on their own,
Trying to bury the shadow out of sight,
Pushing away the feelings,
Thinking hiding away will make it leave,
But this is what the darkness needs,
It helps it grow,
Perfectly attaching any hope,
Leaving then lost and confused.

Grabbing onto them,
The victims beg to be left alone,
It refuses to leave,
It’s aims are to make you feel alone,
Struggling to find a way to get out,
To remove the dark cloud,
To ask for help,
Still it grows,
Leaving a shell of who it’s victim once was.

Walking around only seeing their darkness,
Losing all the victims had once owned,
The darkness begins to show its voice,
It call out to them,
Telling them what to do,
They listen and obey,
To scared to fight,
It takes control,
And still it grows,
Attacking their strength,
With its never ending screams.

All it takes is one final surge of strength,
To slowly bring back a burst of light,
To fight it away,
One call to loosen the load,
Their voices begin to talk,
At the darkness begins to lose it own,
It begins to shrink,
As they regain there strength.

No longer left to cope on their own,
They let the shadow out from hiding,
Bringing it out to face the light,
Accepting that it may never leave,
This helps it shrink,
Gently they regain some hope.

After living with the shadow,
They have learned how to cope,
How to keep the shadows calls silent,
How to live their life,
The shadow may remain,
But he is what makes them strong,
The shadow still clings on,
But his strength is weak.

Shadows follow us all,
Trying to take control,
If we keep our voice,
We don’t let it grow,
We become stronger,
We grow,
As it teaches us who to be,
It will allways linger,
But we will always grow stronger.
