Loss

The white walls surround her
The disinfectant fills the air
People are whispering
But she can’t see them
She is alone.
Her heart races.
She knows what she is about to do
It fills her every being.
She’s left on her own
With the blip

The nurse wanders in
The fake smile plastered on her face
The disappointment in her voice
It time to go
She walks down the hallway
All she wants is a friendly face
But she is left with the white walls
She enters the theatre
The lights begin to fade
When she wakes it will be done.

The light comes into the room
Guilt fills her heart.
Her hands slide to her belly
She knows nothing is left
Her hands begin to shake
She knows the pain will live with her
She can feel the loss of the soul
She knows it was the best thing
As she is only a child herself
But the guilt still lives with her.

Four years have past
She can picture what could have been
When she sees him she can see there little girl
Her mother told her it was the best thing
The drink gave her the courage
To do the right thing
All these years she was too scared to tell
The pain in her voice
Showed the world how she felt
It was her child her first.
