Echoes at the Fortress of Solitude

Yet, you resist, in your mind’s fortress stay,
My words, my love, seem not to reach your heart.
In silence deep, you keep the world at bay,
And yet, my love, from you I can’t depart.

So here I wait, in hope and love’s sweet pain,
For love resisted is love’s greatest gain.

In your fortress of solitude, you dwell,
My words, my love, can’t seem to break the shell.
In silence deep, you’ve built a silent moat,
And on its waters, my hopes and dreams float.

Yet still, I wait, in hope and love’s sweet pain,
For love resisted is love’s greatest gain.
In your silence, I find a quiet peace,
A hope that love’s sweet torment may yet cease.

So here I stand, outside your fortress wall,
In love’s sweet song, I continue to call.
