Unchanged

Sixteen
I count sixteen
I
Wonder
How many
Years
I figure
How many
Times
Yet
Sixteen
I count

But
Young forever
Eternally
You blushing
To
A kiss loving
Sweet longing
Endearing caring
At all times

Your hands
Your eyes
Your looks
Innocence
Fresh first rays
Of sun
Dew on
Your cheeks
Dimples
When you
Smile
Your voice
So youthful
Shrieking laughs
Joyful tears
Full of life moments
Of dreams
Of hope
Of tomorrows

Fragrant soft shadows
Of sunlight
In beds of rosemary
And lavender
At twilight you are

Into yet a lullaby of harp
Fluted in moonbeams
Among the sweet deep purple
Vineyards in a cool summer night
Yes you are

Do I count seventeen?

Nay sixteen
I count
Young you are
Eternal
Now vintaged and sweeter
Yet
Evermore unchanged

               . . .
NDR2.8.2017

Sixteen she was yes
Sixteen she is indeed yes?
Sixteen always yes

Sweet 16 Valentine's haiku. Like a wine's sweet fragrance young once now vintaged, mellowed yet ever sweeter, love ever blushing.

This is gorgeous! This is how we should all feel. The young at heart stay young.

Never stop living young. Good philosophy! It's exactly how I want to feel, everyday. Very well written, and wonderful thoughts.

As long as I can remain thinking young, the longer life I have to live.

My two grandsons told me that I was the craziest person they ever met. And they were at the time six and seven years old. Ha! I never felt so young! And crazy!
Thanks again dear friend.

We tend to stay young as we grow old but with an added
outlook, a pleasant one for the most part, a wisdom,
a sweet acceptance of life's challenges we'd been through,
an acceptance in turn that made us unchanged, sixteen again - our love for life, our love for love, hope ever in us.
Thank you for loving my work Robert. It means a lot to me coming from a great poet like you.
