We Will Find You

When all you can see is
Mountains upon mountains,
Snow five miles deep,
Wind ripping out all the air that you breathe,
We will find the fires you’ve lit.

When all you can hear is
The thundering silence,
An echoed repeat,
The desperate steps of a heart in retreat,
We will sing the words you won’t say.

When all you can feel is
Waves high as skyscrapers,
Dragging you from land,
The weight of the wreckage that falls from your hands,
We will pull you from the heart of the sea.

When all you can be is
The wound of a whisper,
A scream in the night,
A crater of bodies ‘round a flag waving white,
We will find you there, holding that hill,
And stay at your side through the storm and the still.
