Above the Pain

Above the Pain

Mount Calvary, that hill so far away
Our martyr hung for the wind to sway
Above the pain, that earthly feeling
Suspended between ground and ceiling

That mission to follow, his mortal goal
With mind over matter in total control
The pain to endure, an unbearable climb
Rescued by death, leaving life behind

Of bewildered minds and disciples’ tears
His new paradise still holding all the fears
Where pain is no longer a lamented singing
But a kingdom where death is a new beginning

All hail to the one who rose above that pain
With the world to see and his to gain
Jesus, thou art the bravest of the brave
With that mortal mission on earth to fulfill
With that determination to rise above the pain
