Ode to the Sun

Ode to the Sun

How noble you are, incarnate spirit of life.  How steady is your place in the skies.  How obedient you are to the law of motion.  How beautiful is thy exit into the night and thy entrance before the morn’.  How generous you are to share your wisdom with us.  How heroic you are to rescue us from the jaws of winter.  How precise you are to do it at the same time each year.  How soothing is thy warmth against our faces.  How dedicated you are to keep us alive with your fertile gardens.  How gracious you are to call upon the wind to blow away the polluted air from our smoking chimneys.  How persevering you are to resurrect the forests that we have ravaged.  For this, we are eternally grateful.  I vow never again to curse your sacred name, for you blessed sun, are one of the many fingers of God.

From my book entitled, "In Reverence to Life."
